A visual presentation of how God works in our lives through the example of a Potter working with Clay

Pastor John Thomas

Isaiah 64:8 - “But now, O LORD, thou art our Father, and we are the Clay. Thou art the Potter, and we are all the work of Thy hand.”

The Demonstration takes us on a Visual Journey from Finding the Clay, to Preparing the Clay, to Forming the Clay, to Decorating the Clay, to the Firing of the Clay in the Kiln, bringing the Clay to a place where it Fulfills the Plan and Purpose of the Potter.

Along the journey, there are many Visual Lessons that can help us understand the Whys and How Comes that face each of us daily, as God patiently works in us, changing us from glory to glory.

God's Plan for Man, is presented by John Thomas, who has been working with Clay since the early 1970s. He began working with Clay in High School, and then continued on by working as a Production Potter in various Potteries in Southern California. From there, John went on to manage one of the largest handcrafted Potteries in the US. John also built a Studio in Huntington Beach California, where he made Pottery and sold it in various Art Shows.

In 1984 John left Southern California and moved his family to Pennsylvania where he founded Thomas Pottery Company. Thomas Pottery was a family owned and operated Pottery, where John, his wife Shelly, and their 2 Children ran the Pottery which also employed others.

In 1975, John gave his life to Jesus Christ at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa California. In his relationship with God, John learned that as he was forming pots, God was forming him. Over the years, God taught John many things, and in his Pottery Studio in Fredericktown Pennsylvania John started a Bible Study, sharing what he had learned to those that would frequent his Pottery Shop. As a result, the Bible Study grew, and in April of 1991, a Church was born, and John began to Pastor Calvary Chapel of Fredericktown Pennsylvania.

Although John is Pastoring fulltime now and doesn’t work in the Pottery Studio anymore, he still manages to share the Message of the Gospel through the demonstration of “The Potter and the Clay - God’s Plan for Man”
